? About the Role

Sage Recruiting is hiring a Founding Front-End Engineer on behalf of our client, a venture-backed startup building a next-generation platform for running Python data workloads on cloud object storage—without infrastructure headaches.

With a product already running at scale, they’re ready to level up their user experience. They're looking for a strong front-end engineer with experience using modern design systems and building intuitive, fast, and consistent interfaces for technical users.

What You’ll Do

• Lead design and development of the product’s web-based UI, including key workflows, dashboards, and supporting visual interface
• Work closely with engineering leadership and product to ship fast, user-friendly features
• Leverage an existing design system to build and extend clean, scalable components
• Contribute to core engineering efforts by connecting UI to backend services (REST APIs, cloud workflows)
• Occasionally assist with light backend tasks when needed (e.g., endpoint wiring, basic cloud infra)
• Work with the customer to ensure strong user-centred design

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of experience building front-end applications for B2B SaaS or developer-facing products
• Strong knowledge of React and front-end technologies
• Proven experience using modern design systems in production environments
• Comfort working with REST APIs, Git workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience designing User interfaces with the user experience in mind
• UI/UX design sensibilities (e.g., attention to interaction details, usability, and user flow)

Nice to Have

• Basic understanding of Python, especially in the context of backend APIs or developer tools
• Experience working with infrastructure or data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks)
• Exposure to developer tools or CLI-based workflows
• Knowledge of SQL or analytics tools
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and containerized dev environments (Docker)
