Lead Systems Engineer / Technical Architect

We're looking for a hands-on Technical Architect with strong leadership skills to take ownership of a critical application ecosystem serving elite clients in the business aviation sector. This role blends deep architectural expertise with team leadership and product understanding, acting as a bridge between engineering teams and product management.

Description

• Lead and mentor engineering teams, guiding their work and helping unblock technical challenges.
• Own the architecture and design of complex microservice-based applications primarily built in Java and React, with supporting technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch.
• Collaborate closely with product owners to deeply understand the product, the structure of applications, and the business requirements driving changes.
• Ensure the delivery of highly reliable, scalable solutions supporting broadband internet connectivity for high-end private jets - our clients expect flawless, 100% internet coverage in flight.
• Maintain and evolve legacy systems while steering refactoring and new development towards modern, scalable architectures.
• Serve as a key communication point between global teams, particularly as this role transitions responsibilities from teams in India to local ownership.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and support smooth coordination of development processes.

Profile

• Strong technical background with experience in Java and React (front-end and back-end split roughly 50/50).
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and supporting engineering teams. Exposure to remote/global teams is a plus.
• Ability to understand and explain complex system architectures and translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Excellent communication skills - comfortable reporting and engaging with senior stakeholders, including direct client interaction at times.
• Experience working in high-stakes, client-critical environments where reliability and customer service are paramount.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with Angular or C# is a bonus but not essential as we are moving away from those technologies.
• Exposure to zero-trust security principles and data compliance is a plus.
