Job Description

About The Company

Cathcart Technology is a reputable and innovative technology firm based in Edinburgh, renowned for delivering cutting-edge solutions to a diverse range of clients. The company prides itself on fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth. With a focus on leveraging the latest technologies, Cathcart Technology aims to solve complex business challenges through tailored software development, cloud solutions, and digital transformation initiatives. Their commitment to excellence and client satisfaction has established them as a trusted partner in the technology industry.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Developer to join our client's team on a contract basis. This role is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within the UK. The initial contract duration is three months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The primary focus of this position is to support an existing delivery team by addressing a backlog of well-defined, high-volume tickets and removing blockers to ensure smooth project progress.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced developer capable of contributing immediately to a scoped work environment with an established architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality code, improve existing systems, and support continuous integration and deployment processes. This is a capacity-driven role, not a transformation project, providing an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact within a short timeframe.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a full-stack developer at a mid to senior level.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript across the full stack, including React for frontend development and Node.js/Express for backend services.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and MongoDB database management.
  • Solid understanding of MVC architecture and best practices in software development.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket and Jenkins.
  • Ability to write well-tested, maintainable, and scalable code.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor or Claude is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the product squad to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality features.
  • Address and resolve a backlog of high-volume tickets efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure full-stack applications using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development workflows, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement and promote testing strategies to enhance code quality and reliability.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools to streamline coding processes and improve productivity.
  • Work closely with DevOps and QA teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of applications.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions where appropriate.

Benefits

This contract offers a competitive daily rate ranging from £400 to £450, depending on experience. As a remote position, it provides flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK, promoting work-life balance. You will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects within a supportive team environment, gaining exposure to modern technologies and best practices in software development. The role also offers the potential for extension or future opportunities with the company, depending on project requirements and your performance.

Equal Opportunity

Cathcart Technology is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. We believe that diversity drives innovation and excellence, and we are dedicated to providing a supportive environment where all employees can thrive.
